well kirstie, I know we're both from Cardiff but I honestly dont really have a Cardiff accent. Strangely enough, I never did, much to my brothers annoyance when we were kids. They both speak with a proper Tremorfa Cardiff accent. I think they thought I was adopted, since to them I talked 'posh'. LOL I dont really, but if you dont talk the lingo like dey do, dey finks ure odd like, innit luv. I do catch myself lapsing into a spot of 'cardiff' when Ive had a few glasses of the good stuff, but I notice right away because it doesn't sound like 'me'! **psst. I actually cant stand the way Charlotte speaks. It makes me wince ** But thats really only because I think it sounds awful on the telly. In person it doesn't bother me at all how people speak. As long as I can manage to understand them I find it entertaining. I do have a terrible habit of mimicking the way people speak when Im with anyone with a strong accent for more than a few minutes. I dont do it to take the mickey, its not even done consciously, so it can be embarrassing if the person realises Im scarily good at it at times and my work mates also think Im totally 'batty' because I have a repertoire of funny voices too, which I have a tendency to burst into spontaneously for no apparent reason. (Dont ask me...Im just batty by nature but it is great for telling stories ) Probably should have been an impressionist, like Ronni Ancona. Funnily enough, she even looks quite a bit like me, even down to the long dark hair and cleavage. LOL but I suspect Im more likely to end up like this if I dont wrap up more often... ** hmm just realised...that pic reminds me of the Bair witch! **

Hey maria I certainly dont think i sound as cardiff as charlotte i grew up in roath but shes the only one i can think of plus she swears alot and i do to LOL Oh, I never ever swear myself Kirstie. is it just me, or has Charlotte's accent gotten stronger in the last couple of years? I think a lot of it is more to to with attitude than accent TBH. The way she sometimes speaks to her mother is what really put me off her. Id throttle my sons if they ever spoke to me that way. My sons ex girlfriend comes from the same part of Cardiff as Charlotte and she sounded exactly like her but her accent isn't anything like as strong as my brothers. Its quite weird that I don't have a really strong accent myself when you consider the way I mimic people. If anything I suspect Ive started to have a touch of Ponty in the way I say certain words. (Yikes !) That's a recent thing because there are so many people from Ponty working in my office. I'll have to watch it or I'll end up sounding like Tom Jones (As long as I don't start to look like him..LOL)
