I think a tad insensitive about Kylie.....I think she is one of the best singers and performers going as is Madonna. And can i say she may have wrote a book to keep her mind off things - what else is she supposed to do get depressed. No one knows what goes on behind closed doors. People may NOT have liked Kylie but she is a stayer and she has her fans, and ok probably not in the same league as other folks, but each to there own i guess. But she knows what the fans like and like Madonna she always changes her image, and she has sex appeal and so what if she is getting older Madonna is 46 and is still selling records/albums lol Yes I know it sounds mean, but not really. If you do research on Kylie you will discover she is one of the most ruthless female businesswomen in the musical arena. She is a property tycoon and an exploitive media performer. Anybody who has been ill with Breast Cancer in my opinion would not take the pressure of writing a book, launching a new perfume and writing songs with the Scissor Sisters. They would not be able to take that kind of pressure. But Kylie knew what she was doing because she is premeditive. She dropped out of her tour because the last leg was Australia and it was too embarrassing for her to face the fact that her own native country did not buy tickets to her show and the ratings had fallen through the floor. Most of these popstars create stories around themselves and we buy it. Anastasia one of the best female singers around in a long time had breast cancer. What did she do about it?? well not a lot as she was so debilitated and upset like you would be and instead she dropped out of view because she was ill. She actually gave talks about breast cancer and donated a lot of her time to people who had breast cancer . Most admirable was the fact that her career dropped from the spotlight after a fantastic and promising beginning but she was poorly and dealing with very bad news. Quite a contrast to Miss Minogue I feel who also went into rigorous fitness training for the last leg of her show to make sure it would be successful. I dont think Im cruel its just the facts that make me sound that way. Madonna is 48 btw Julie. She looks great but she really pays for it heavily. I would not have her discipline thats for sure..P.s. I love Madonna even if I think she should be adopting babies or orphans from this country.

Ok so i lost a couple of yrs from Madonna's age but please don't think im trying to be argumentative, but i do have an opinion. Anastasia i do admire by the way and love her voice and music. But everyone deals with an illness in different ways, Kylie does it in a way that she wanted to keep busy and she was trying to think positive. Anyway Kylie has been around a long long time esp. on Australian Tv when she was younger. She and Jason have known each other for yrs as they starred together and i watched it - In The Henderson Kids and was in her Sister Dani's Talent program who by the way was more famous than Kylie at the time. I agree with you on adopting in the uk rather than going all the way to Africa Ps this is my research www.kylie.com/gh_site/cronology.htm

Billie Piper accused of stealing boyfriend Sunday, December 31 2006, 11:57 GMT
By Daniel Kilkelly
Billie Piper has been accused of 'stealing' her new boyfriend from another woman.
The Doctor Who actress started dating Laurence Fox this month after ditching her boyfriend of two years, Amadu Sowe. Fox had been involved in a relationship with 29-year-old Martha Swann for six years and pals had expected him to marry her.
"Martha's really gutted by what has happened," a friend told The People. "She thinks Billie's to blame for the split. She'd been going out with Laurence for a total of about six years and then this happens. That's a long time to be with someone and for it all to end so suddenly.
"I know Martha thought she and Laurence were on the verge of getting married. She was thinking further down the line and obviously Laurence wasn't. She is really upset

Britney ends friendship with Paris Sunday, December 31 2006, 09:16 GMT
By Daniel Kilkelly
Britney Spears has ended her controversial friendship with Paris Hilton, according to a report today.
The singer made the decision after realising that her constant partying with Hilton following her split from Kevin Federline was becoming bad for her image. Earlier this week, one of Britney's biggest fansites announced that it was closing down because of her recent behaviour.
A source told the News of the World: "Britney called Paris and said she had decided not to be seen in public with her - she said it wasn't personal. Britney realised her partying was being perceived in a bad light. People began questioning her as a mother."
I wonder if Britney has been reading the press who are now insisting that her career is over...!!

Lets all be soap stars...the pays good.. Anne Kirkbride signs new Corrie contract Friday, December 29 2006, 13:52 GMT By Kris Green, Soaps Editor Veteran Coronation Street actress Anne Kirkbride has signed a new contract with the ITV soap, making her the highest paid member of the cast. The 52-year-old actress, who has played Deirdre Barlow since 1972, has secured her place in Weatherfield for a further 14 months in a £270,000 deal - a longer period than the standard six-month or year-long agreement. An insider told The Sun: "Deirdre is a Street stalwart, we can’t afford for her to go anywhere. We’re delighted she’s staying put." A Corrie spokesperson added: "We would never comment on stars’ pay or contracts." Anne's £270k coup takes her to the top of the table of highest-paid females in the soap, overtaking Barbara Knox, Kabin owner Rita Sullivan, whose pay stands at £260,000. Bill Roache (Ken Barlow) remains the highest paid male.

Ile post this here doubt any body will be intrested well i am stunned and elated at the same time by the reactions i read on hooky's remarks. it is great to see that all of you are so passionate yourselves about the film. the very misleading headline "New Order have criticised the makers of Joy Division film 'Control' " has brought out the best in you all but please be aware that there is NO argument whatsoever between new order and myself or hooky and me. peter might have been in a bit of a mood when he said what he said and boy, does he know how to make headlines, but please don't be upset with either him or me for no reason. yes, i am in control of CONTROL as any director worth his celluloid should be in charge of his film but i am not telling the band, that i moved to the UK for in 1979, how to write songs. please. i wouldn't dare. what we are doing is making some incidental music for particular parts of the film and yes, i am in the studio with the new order guys when they are doing this. new order saw a rough cut of the film prior to writing the score and THEY ALL LOVED IT which would be a much better headline ! CONTROL is a beautiful film for anyone who loves hooky, and beyond. the movie meanwhile looks set to come out in september 2007. ANTON CORBIJN

Another bit of useless news unless your me RUMOURS of Mancunian pop legends New Order's demise may be somewhat premature, I am reliably informed. While numerous websites have been screaming out loud that the band has decided to call it a day I have it on good authority that the band are actually about to embark on one of their busiest years for many a moon. "It's the first I've heard of it," drummer Stephen Morris declares when I asked him about the split stories. "We've got an album to finish and a movie coming out this year." There's also the small matter of the 30th anniversary of Joy Division - the band which spawned New Order following the untimely death of enigmatic lead singer Ian Curtis. It is three decades ago this year that the youthful and energetic young band first hit the headlines and there's a lot planned to celebrate the event - not least a documentary-style movie about the legendary group made by acclaimed cinematographer Anton Corbin. Control Stephen tells me: "Anton's film is called Control and is due out in February. "It's been made in black and white and we are all going to the premiere in February in Berlin. We are really looking forward to it and we've already seen a cut of it." "It's really good and should hopefully do very well," Stephen says. The band's music - including the now iconic 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' is to be honoured with an album of cover versions by some of today's biggest pop names. "The Killers have already done a version of Shadowplay for the album and there will be lots more great stuff on there hopefully," Stephen adds. Goes off to listen to Shadowplay

Just another bit of info Directed by Dutch photographer Anton Corbijn, Control is set to open in UK cinemas in March, 2 years after its American producers Orian Williams and Tom Eckhert first contacted Mojo to discuss their new project. Eckert has spoken about their lengthy effort to get the film off the ground, having optioned the rights to 'Touching from a distance' in the late 90's. ''I don't think there are many really great stories out there.'' said Todd. ''But this is one of them.'' Williams, in particular, felt it crucial to find a director whom both Deborah and the surviving members of Joy Division could trust. Though Anton Corbijn had yet to direct a full feature film, the Dutchman's credentials were impeccable. In 1980 he moved from Holland to Britain specifically to photograph the group, his iconic shots for NME launching a career that would see him in the 80's and beyond become first choice lensman for U2, Depeche Mode and R.E.M. Indeed it was non other than Bono who told Williams at a party in 2004, ''You've got to get Anton to direct this movie''. ''Initially, (Corbijn) did not want to make a film about a musician", explains Williams. ''But then he realized it wasn't a conventional biopic, it was a love story.'' Once on board the director's first stipulation was that the film should be shot in moody black and white. The result, says Williams has an ''abstract poetic, epic feel, but it's not arty, its not a fever dream. Its traditionally mapped out- Antons a big fan of old English movies, he loves David Lean, Truffuant, Jim Jarmush, (Loach's) Kes.'' Control - part-financed by Depeche Mode's Martin Gore - has, it seems won some important fans. The surviving members of Joy Division saw a preview on November 28th, reporting to Mojo that they ''very much approve of it and will be backing it 100%''. ''Initially the group were disinterested in the film, but at the same time were intrigued and wanted to get involved'' says Williams.''When we first met them backstage at a gig in Liverpool in 2005, Bernard said 'Just have some fun with it.' We did and the finished Movie is amazing.'' Control will be released in spring 2007, for more info go to controlthemovie.com/Thanks to www.depeche-mode.com/

The Police to reunite for the grammy awardsThe Police - including Sting - are to reunite for the Grammys The Police, including lead singer Sting, will reunite to open the Grammy Awards, it has been announced. The news will add to speculation that the group, who split in 1984, are set to go on tour. Earlier this month, Billboard magazine said sources had confirmed rumours of shows in America and Britain. The band played an impromptu set at lead singer Sting's wedding to Trudie Styler in 1992, and last performed together in celebration of their 2003 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The prime-time Grammy performance on February 11 comes 30 years after the release of The Police's first single, Fall Out. They went on to find fame with songs like Roxanne and Message in a Bottle, and won five Grammys over the years. This month, Sting told the Television Critics Association he and fellow former members Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers were discussing what to do to mark their 30th anniversary. "It would be nice to do something to celebrate," he said. "We don't quite know what, but we're talking about it." ;D Methinks there is a concert at St James park on the cards...Howay the lads #woohoo#
