As a Stoke City fan I can categorically state that football is not always a beautiful game. It has its moments (moments being the operative word).

As I was saying, isn't it great that Man U have got off to such a good start: 3 played and three won. NO !! Howay The Lads Noticed there was an England fan still wearing a Shearer England shirt at the match today. Do you think Shearer should have accepted a role in the England set up? I don't think he's v good at the punditry. That looks like a bad career move to me. He's getting involved at Newcastle though isn't he?

(No Really that's his official title) Which means when it all goes belly up with Glen he'll be ready to step in his shoes in a Keegan messiah like way. PS Thanks for Rossi very kind.

Was browsing the newspaper with a cup of tea this morning as I woke terribly early...(another positive sign of giving up smoking..... : not that it was a current newspaper it was dated 31st may, just pulled it out of the woodbasket.....and ...there was a picture in there of the Man United football team from the '60s with Alf Ramsay and the Trainer etc..and Bobby Moore at the bottom and on the top there was a current picture of 8 of the members left (except Bob charlton and someone else forgot his name ah yes Ray wilson.who were not available for the meet up)..all the rest in this picture sitting there with their original t.shirts. The upshot is that RICKY TOMLINSON commedian went to hunt down all the original T.shirts some were sold off etc after the match in '66 one team member George Cohen said he swopped his shirt with a german player who since died and his son was given the shirt. Anyway all these original t shirts were found by Rick Tomlinson and their owners and they were reunited with the old Man United team at the Hendon Hall Hotel near Wembley which is the same hotel they used during the tournament 40 years ago. There they came to meet up with there SHIRTS... I think that is quite a lovely story. The photo of them holding up their shirts was poignant as Bobby Moore who died has his Number 6 red shirt draped on a chair...ahhhhh.... P.s. My dad was an army referee for 25 years..plenty of football in our house... have to say though...I cant stand it...ooooooppppsss!!! But you cant blame me....

I'd like to see if they still have that story on their website. It all sounds a bit confusing. I think it might have been a gathering of the old England team from 1966, particularly as it was just prior to the World Cup.

;D Hi Rem, Ive been running around catching up.. I have the paper in front of me...it was Daily Mail dated Wednesday May 31st 2006 Page 19. by Sinead Mcintyre Title England legends are reunited in the hunt for the kit that won the cup. Back at the scne of their triumph, the heroes of '66. Reads. It is not the first time the heroes of 1966 have been reunited. This time there were a few extra reasons for nostalgia. Eight surviving members of the England World Squad met up at the Hendon Hall Hotel near Wembley the same one they used during the tournament 40years ago. The last time they were there together was the night before the biggest game in their careers. This time they spent a more relaxed evening catching up over a few drinks and debating the merits of the current England squad. They were brought together to promote a television show which features comediatn Ricky Tomlinson embarking on a mission to track down the iconic shirts worn on that famous day. He manages to trace most of them and the players are brought up to date with their whereabouts. Missing from the line up were Sir Bobby Charlton and Ray Wilson who had prior engagements. And as the players posed int he shadow of the new Wembley Stadium a vacant seat was adorned with the number 6 shirt as a tribute to Bobby Moore who died in 1993. Right back George Cohen was one of the lucky few reunited with his shirt. 'it was very emotional' he said ' i hadnt seen it since the end of the game when i swapped it with a german player who has since died but passed it on to this son' The shirts of 66 starts on June 4 on UKTV Gold. Here is a brief rundown of the players and their lives after football.... If you missed that UKTV Gold programme Rem, you might be able to find out more about this on Google or whatever..Im sure thre must be details around somewhere. I will keep this paper in case you cannot find the details and Will scan it to you if needs be..just let me know alright??/

Well emmkay, Celtic certainly gave us a run for our money on Wednesday. Thank God for Ole. I was surprised Fergie played Fletcher. In fact I'm surprised Fletcher wasn't offloaded during the summer. He seems to play quite well for Scotland. But for Man U, he's always pretty average.
Not looking forward to the return match. LOL
