If you already have Norton on your PC I would stick to Norton. The only proper way to get rid of Norton is to format and reload Windows. There are tools on the Symantec website to get rid of Norton but they don't always work properly and as soon as you put another security package on you get conflicts.
Norton 2007 is good as a security package but it does use a lot of your System resources. For what it's worth I use Nod32 and the Windows Firewall behind a Router on a fully up to date Windows XP.
