A great thread and thanks cloud9. Aisleyne certainly did transcend BB and caused many intellectuals to sit up and take notice. She was truly a beacon for women and yes, a female icon. There is so much she could do in the media on behalf of women and in doing so, achieve so much for herself too.
For these reasons,I hope she isn't allowed to just fade away from the media. Her agent and her other advisors have a heavy responsibility on their shoulders regarding Aisleyne who was brave enough to put herself on the line and emerge as an extra-ordinary person. We are powerless to help or advise but Emma, I hope you are reading this thread and that you know what you're doing.

I agree, it's great to see. But you are also right that our society is still sexist to some degree, and it's not only men, women seem to be worse in some cases.
I was shocked by some of the comments by women in relation to the Spiral incident.

;D Hi all, well I am still messing around on here and its late...if Im caustic write me a post and tell me to shuttap.... I wrote hundreds of posts about Aisleyne on the BB Ais forum and was actually asked to declare my sex... Well I am female as most of you know, I am certainly NOT gay but have no problem with the various genders of our society live and let live etc .... As for Aisleyne, I happen to think she is lovely. The fact that she is a sexy woman is quite evident definately, she has camera appeal. Not everyone has that, I believe that she has that and that her relationship with the camera could be very promising. I am a bit of an odd person really. I dont like bimbo girlies because basically, they bladdy annoy me. I like girls who have a bit of gumption and are earthy and somehow real and true to themselves. I have marked Aisleyne down as one of these girls. We are still early days and dont know enough about her yet, but I hope my own hunches are good where she is concerned. Its the street girl come good thing that I respect. Someone with a good heart who no matter what their station in life will always look behind them or below them to help another or give something of themselves to another . Aisleyne I hope is one of those girls who will never forget her roots and will always stay real to herself..I think she can do that..time will show us all. I have no problems liking and backing other women. A lot of women are very jealous of pretty girls or talented women. But I find talented women fascinating... I love Christine Aguilera for example, her vocals are elastic, hauntingly beautiful, rich, deep, rippingly concert pitch...they take me to eden and back again...the girl is quite the most fantastic vocalist I have heard and most definately ranked as tops for capability...she is dirty, sexy, smart, pretty, earthy, streety...all these things that another woman can admire....women DO HAVE TO admire another woman to truly like her...I admire Aguilera, but mainly for her vocal brilliance... If I had to say what I admire SO FAR in Aisleyne, it is WARMTH... she is also extremely beautiful, and her EYES are stunning....so I am not jealous of a gorgeous woman...I am capable of stepping back and being open about the attractiveness of another human being not from a sexual point of view but form a view of beauty from a different angle.... If women were not so aware of themselves these days and were not pressurised to live up to certain marketing nonsenses, they might support other women more freely and hold less contempt...I am sure Aisleyne would have done even better on Big Brother if it had not been for the female audience... the blonde hair and thongs cost Aisleyne, the thing that p....sses me off so much is that the very girls that spat out that kind of acidic spite were probably blonde and wore thongs themselves... laughable really is,nt it..... btw.. feminist icon....i think thats going too far....ask me why and I will tell you....I just think it is OTT and Aisleyne is more down to earth than that...Feminist Icon?? brings to mind Germaine Greer, just cant see ais in that role can you?? If i were perfectly honest with you all, I think Aisleyne would freak if she realised some of the things people thought of her...she would be flattered, but this girl wants to act her age...shes had a rough life..lets not think it all out for her...else there will be no surprises, she needs to turn her own corners.... Aisleyne, has gotta go out there and live it better than she did before BB. It was a rubbish life then..now its the same life with more perks...and opportunities...what she is gonna do??? Dont know...I do know that we her fans have yet to know who we are supporting... i.e., david beckham..football player, britney spears, vocalist... Aisleyne Horgan Wallace???.......WATCH THIS SPACE....

Really enjoying your posts odm and agree with most of your points. The fact that we are still guessing with Ais is quite characteristic. She may go down the glamour route for a while cos that's what she did before and that's where she's at - she has to start somewhere. Keeping in mind that she can adapt and evolve quite successfully - like you say ... watch this space. I'm just glad that we've not had media overkill and stuff shoved down our throats (like some people I could mention) in what ever capacity.
