I was looking at Clash's YouTube thread and was quite shocked to see that lots of the videos can no longer be viewed. That must be really annoying for you, Clash, after all that hard work.
I didn't completely understand the reason you gave though Clash. Have they been removed by YouTube for breach of copyright reasons or because the people who put them up have exceeded their bandwidth?

Two of the videos were removed by the people who'd uploaded them. The others are unavailable now because two YouTube users have had their accounts deleted. Attempting to access those videos brings up the following message: This video has been removed due to terms of use violation. Most of the missing videos had been uploaded by just one user who has lost a couple of hundred of them.

I think the TV companies are beginning to cotton on to the extent to which their material is made available on YouTube and Channel 4 may have brought the fact that this person has posted so many to YouTube's attention. Maybe YouTube are being forced to take are more "responsible" attitude to copyright issues. Haven't they just been taken over? The timing is also interesting because Channel 4 have just launched their on-demand TV service and I would imagine that those involved in the launch would be anxious to ensure that people use that service rather than YouTube.

You Tube are being sued over copyright issues. Mainly the big music companies. As you know most people add sound to the videos which are often in the charts or still in copyright.
This is why we have to be careful here regarding photos and the like.

It wouldn't surprise me if a few TV companies have put pressure on them to remove some materials as well. Having said that, this guy who posted all the BB7 videos may have broken some other rules for all we know.

I cant see any music companies suing us either, as we don't have music on here. I was referring to posting pictures here, and I doubt we would be sued, instructed to remove posts, most defiantly.

there is one person (name escapes me just now) who had an awful lot of BB stuff on YouTube- they posted on DS:BB to explain that their account at YouTube was deleted not because of their BB vids but because of some Ken Russell CBB clips (VT stuff etc) which showed footage of his films and so because of that the whole lots of vids in their account were removed... they're looking into trying to have the majority reinstated but have yet to hear back from YouTube after quite a lengthy period.
They have since set up another account without the Ken Russell stuff and so far so good, altho it wouldn't surprise me if there are problems with Ch4 and BB etc..
I'm only posting what i've read so apologies if this information turns out to be incorrect.
