www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5pBN3cE-2AI defy you to watch this and not be moved. Steve left us more than TV footage. If ever a child reflected what was best about their parents she does. I can't help but reflect on how an 8 year old acting maturely touches me so much more than a physically mature woman acting as an 8 year old. Now I hear Richard Hammond is in a critical condition. Puts things into perspective.

She's certainly a confident little scrap. And I just heard about the Hamster on the news as well.

She's certainly a confident little scrap. And I just heard about the Hamster on the news as well. The recent news is that he's stable.

she seems like an amazing little girl, with a lot of courage and self belief.
I really hope that Richard Hammond is pulling through well

This little girl seems terribly grown up for her age..almost like she is,nt a little girl at all but I think you find that in families that are constantly in the public eye. I think its sad that it might not have really sunk in that her Dad is not coming home, I dont think any child could make that speech if they were deeply aware of the situation.
I thought Steve Irwin did a fantastic job of making people aware of animals and I was impressed that he bought 90,000 acres of Australian land to protect certain species.
There is a but....
..my 'but' comes from when he was taking one of his children and risking them with a crocodile in front of a crowd of people....I dont think any publicity for animals is worth a stunt like that..and remember he himself took a risk too far..
and even more to the point, look at the attitude of people when Michael Jackson held his baby over a balcony...people had plenty to say about that and Michael Jackson was the most amazing and most brilliantly innovative performer in Music for years. The press crucified him over the balcony incident.
I think sometimes we all get drawn into peoples personalities and overlook the fact that they sometimes cross the line.
all the the same..
Respect to the guy for allowing us all a closer understanding of animals...but I am chewing my lip.

It's quiet strange, but when you grow up with animals you start interacting on their rules.
Crocs are generally predictable. Steve knew this. His baby was less at risk than allowing your child to walk by a strange dog.
Bindi knows her dad is gone. She's been imbued with her parents values. The little girl we see today is the precusor of the woman we'll see in future. Fate may intervene as it did with her father, but this is a girl who grieves in private and fearlessly faces an audiance to hail her dad's life.
She's not a one-off, but she is one of the few.
