Agents take advantage of BB casting crisis Saturday, December 30 2006, 14:30 UTC - by Daniel Kilkelly
Celebrity Big Brother producers are being "held to ransom" by showbiz agents who are taking advantage of the show's reported casting crisis.
Executives are still said to be searching for stars to enter the house next week after being surprised by a number of last-minute drop-outs. Now agents are demanding fees of £100,000 for celebs who would normally only expect to be paid around £25,000 to £40,000.
A Team actor Dirk Benedict, Starsky and Hutch star Paul Michael Glaser and singer Jermaine Jackson have already signed up for the show, according to recent reports.
A show source told the Daily Star: "We have needed something better. Producers know exactly who else they want but they are going to have to give them a hefty pay packet to get them to sign - we're talking obscene amounts of cash.
"Agents are playing hard ball with producers because they know they need to fill the house before the show kicks off next week."

It brings a smile to my face to think of Endemol on the recieving end of a shafting. It makes a change from them shafting the viewers.

It brings a smile to my face to think of Endemol on the recieving end of a shafting. It makes a change from them shafting the viewers. Exactly. I'm not looking forward to having all these Americans in it either. Although I quite liked Traci Bingham last year, the Americans have a totally different approach to celebrity and are far less likely to let their guard down and show their real selves. The Brits tend to treat celebrity as a day job and are more likely to act like ordinary people when not in the spotlight.

'Celeb BB' seeking another A-list star Thursday, December 28 2006, 11:57 UTC - by Dave West
Celebrity Big Brother producers are reportedly planning to pay up to £1 million for another top star - just days before the show is due to start.
Channel 4 has told producer Endemol to make a list of celebrities a “name your price” offer in an attempt to secure them for the show, according to the Daily Star.
“Normally by this time – less than a week before the show starts – the celebs are all signed and sealed," a source told the paper. "But this year bosses are going to be working right up to the last minute to make sure they get the right mix.
“Channel 4 are very keen on getting a big name star to keep the nation gripped. They called in some of the top bigwigs for meetings over Christmas, which is unheard of and shows how serious they are about making it the biggest and best yet. So don’t be surprised if a former Premiership footballer or pop hunk makes it into the mix as well.”
Rumoured to be on the wanted list are former Hollyoaks actress Sarah Dunn, singer Courtney Love and Emmerdale’s Ben Freeman, who currently faces a rape charge, which he denies.

The former Miss GB, sacked for posing topless for Playboy and dating judge Teddy Sheringham, is about to make her bid to be the next Miss BB.
Bosses hope sexy Dani, 23 will spice up the show with her winning formation and tales about Teddy.
And no doubt the ex-England ace has coached her about staying out in front. Not that she needs it.
An insider revealed: "Danielle's got amazing looks and bags of personality. She'll shine."
Teddy, 40, is backing his girl. A pal said: "He's happy for her although he has warned her not to embarrass him." Danielle is expected to nominate a cancer charity for the show after suffering a breast-cancer scare months before being crowned Miss GB.
She is now in hiding with the 11 other celebs who include Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty, Starsky And Hutch hero Paul Michael Glaser, Michael Jackson's brother Jermaine, A-Team actor Dirk Benedict, transsexual Lauren Harries, politician Robert Kilroy-Silk and Darkness singer Justin Hawkins.
Leaks forced bosses to change the line-up for the final 12. An insider said: "Just before Christmas one of the big names dropped out. The producers were forced to scramble for a replacement."
Shapely Shilpa, 31, is a sex symbol with a black belt in karate. Justin, 31, is after a solo career.
Lauren, 28, first appeared on TV's Wogan as a 10-year-old antiques expert called James and has since had a sex change. Paul, 63, is a dedicated Aids campaigner after tragically losing his wife and daughter to the disease.
It's hoped Jermaine, 52, will talk about his bro Michael. Dirk, 60, is there for laughs and Kilroy-Silk, 64, could annoy them all with his political views.
The final 12 will enter the Big Brother house on Wednesday.
