I saw a pair of Green Woodpeckers last week. Not unusual perhaps for you out-of-townies. But I live not too far from the centre of London so I was quite excited.

:(I thought this was about Pete Pete would not be my ideal choice to take birdwatching. He'd scare 'em all away. He'd be good on a pheasant shoot though, save money on the beaters (not that I do that kind of thing)

Sorry I am not into "twitching", even though I live in one of the best places for it.

Is a Twitcher a birdwatcher? We usually feed the birds in our garden and have problems with squirels but kinda like them too, we have 2 collared doves nesting in a tree at the back of our garden, love seeing them always together its sweet and kinda romantic.

Did you design that software? Yup, two-and-a-half years hard graft. I'm on here for some R&R before I get inundated with sales and international birding fame.

Yes, Twitcher is the name for obsessive kind, who travels the country to see new and rare species. If you ever get one of these rare birds in your garden, they'll trample all over your borders and then expect you to make them a cup of tea. No, we're not that bad. Collared doves are not that common in London. They've been chased out by the rats with wings (ie. the type of pigeons that have been expelled from Trafalgar Square by Ken Livingstone).

Another great London bird today:
A pair of peregrines that nested on the Tate Modern on the South Bank. The RSPB had telescopes set up so that everyone could get a good view. Naturally, my kids kept moving the telescope off the lock point, so we eventually got given a free pencil and were told to leg it.
