Hey folks im so glad to be reunited with all you FAKERS again. My goal is to keep my posts shortttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttter this time and i promise i will try not to ramble on and on and on and on and............... anyhow Bluebellberries great to here youve given up the cigs. My own mother died of emphysema 8 years ago and it is not a nice thing to watch at all. I stopped the cigs in jan of this year.Im afraid not by cold turkey. I use niquitin cq lozenges which are brilliant to help you get out of the ritual of lighting up and all that stuff but i have to say that i should by rights have been finished them too,but i need to find the right set of circumstance to enable me to do so. At least i dont get the harmful chemicals in my system,so its fine for the moment. Appetite didnt increase with the nic cq so thats a bonus. Good luck with it and stick with it.

Good Luck! I gave up for about 10 years - cold turkey worked for me, and a lot easier than i thought. But then, about 3 years ago, one too many drinks (not the first time, believe me!!), i suddenly fancied just a puff of a cigarette. Much too cocky for my own good, but after all, it had been 10 years!!!! 40 a day now You have to think of yourself as an alcoholic does - you cannot 'just have 1 - dont be fooled!!!!! I found, when i gave up, if I went to have a ciggie, rather than think I've stopped, I would say to myself I would have it later if I wanted it. And I carried some with me for the first couple of weeks, to avoid that panicky feel! VERY best of luck! Who knows, maybe we can start a 'giving up club'!!1

Well done on making the decision. I stopped just over 2 years ago and found it much easier than I expected. Things I found helpful were: -
1 - Keep lots of sparkling water in the fridge. When you're at home and fancy a f*g, have a glass of water instead. It helps get rid of the nicotine and other nasties in your system and kills the craving quicker, and if your mouth feels clean and sparkly, why ruin it with stinky smoke?
2 - I got off the bus on my way home from work a stop early because I used to light up as soon as I got off - changing the stop broke the link. And I varied my route through town because passing a certain shop used to be a trigger for lighting my last f*g before getting to work - so I made sure I didn't pass it.
3 - I never said I was stopping to trying to give up - I made it 'I don't smoke', which took away all doubt and removed the possibility of failure from my mind. It might sound silly but it worked. I decided at 6 pm one day to stop and haven't had a cig since.

OH good luck honey. My dad gave up in February and he says it's the best thing he's ever done. If you really want it, you will do it.

Well I have had to give up the ciggies..cold turkey too...i am chewing airwaves gum. I have been quite poorly lately and can tell you all, if your chest is wheezing and you cant breathe .....cigarettes just DONT figure... anyone who has asthma cannot afford to have a f*g. I was smoking for donkeys years. I only contracted asthma in the last 12, but you know what its like...you just carry on with your bad habits. Unfortunately for me, I got a nasty virus which linked to the asthma and send me . I have not been able to smoke...and Im glad....and now.... ive stubbed them out...for good... and im looking forward to a new surge of energy... OMG I can't believe it. Well done girl, you know how happy I am about that. Congratulations!!! Party time!!
