I'm a smoker too (ironically I'm rolling a f*g as I type! ). I've tried giving up several times (using Alan Carr's book, a self-hypnotism CD, the willpower method as well as NRT) but everyonetime have succumbed after a few months. My problem is that all my friends smoke, so it's added pressure after the initial euphoria of stoping's worn off not to spark up again. The best I've managed was about 3 months after I had a septoplasty a couple of years ago (and couldn't smoke after the op), but surprise surprise, tobacco got the better of me again! I think if I am going to successfully give up then it needs to be at a time when all of our friendship circle decide to do it together so we can have 'group therapy' as it were! Anyway, best of luck with the classes Bluebell...is the first one today?

Well its been 10 days since I had my last cigarette inhalation. Whats the difference.. Well, I dont cough...I can lay on my back and not cough.. I can breathe good without coughing..I am not taking my asthma sprays much...I have a better sense of smell already and i LOVE my food so I am only peed off because I can see a problem perhaps with putting on a few pounds which I HONESTLY dont want to happen because of the stagework...I need to find a way to kill the craving to EAT...any ideas please are more than welcome.
I am feeling a bit more energised all round...i dont know what to do with all this energy but me and hubby are painting the kitchen at present...well, second coat goes on tomorrow. I am feeling very twitchy....without the ciggies....
healthwise, I am definately better in my lungs..that folks is in only 10 days.. I will let you know how it goes...

I've heard that drinking water helps a lot, makes you feel full and is good for you at the same time, when my daughter gave up smoking earlier this year because of her pregnancy she found eating apples helped, she took time to peel them and that in itself was of benefit because it occupied her hands too, you're doing really well ;D

;D Thank you Celticsky. Well today, I had a freak out this morning. I have been feeling very agitated and basically would have done a few rounds with old Tyson himself given the opportunity....no release for this ...feeling..dammit... Anyway, I went to the chemist and told the pharmacist that I was starting to feel particularly volatile and getting upset as I was wanting to eat anything, crisps, chocs, sweets, almost compulsively, believe me, it could bring me to tears how I have felt...anyway, he said, do half an hour of exercise three times per week. eat five fruit and veg, take magnesium supplement and I have a false ciggie... now these false ciggies look like a ciggie. It is just plastic and cost £1.99 and it sort of tastes a bit perfumey..its meant to taste like a ciggie but it does,nt. The idea is to pretend with it.. yes I have had it in my mouth most of the day and i dont know if it helps or not as I have eaten crisps, maltesers, choc rolls x 2 as well as grapes, kiwi fruit and my dinner..oh blah bladdy blah...it was not a good day for food people... now I have put on about three pounds in 10 days and I am desperate...not to go much more.. I am size 12...i was always a size 10...I accept size 12 ok...thats fine, but I dont want fat bum and thighs and I can feel myself physically swelling up...truth.. so, yes the water...i can drink water, i love water so no problem but it still does not kill THAT feeling...so on day 11, i still have not gone back on my no smoking regime, but I am not exactly the sweetest girl on the block, I am a murderous cantankerous old c.o.w. and make no mistake, if anyone gets on the wrong side of me right now, they will run a golden mile and jump in a cardboard box....so...let me say this giving up smoking is not easy... i went to the veg shop and the guy in there said, when you need a ciggie say out loud MISINFORMATION and in the end your brain will accept that it is wrong data to want a ciggie. well I dont want a ciggie as such I just want the HIT.. if you know what I mean...i bought plenty of fruit btw, melon which you can eat loads of and not get fat, apples, grapes which are quite sugary if you eat too many, and kiwi fruit which is a 'superfood' loaded with potassium... I AM STILL GOING MAD PEOPLE...MAD MAD MAD MAD MAD...BUT...I am gonna get through this...oh yes, you better believe it..... I am NOT a quitter.....( JUST A QUITTER OF CIGGIES)
