I'm still up even though I only had 4 hours sleep last night and had to be on the 7.09 am train. I should be snuggled up early in bed. I tried reading romances to relax. I tried internet browsing. Still can't relax. Pet hammie playing on sofa. Me typing here. It might be hot chocolate time but what about the diet

Still can't relax. Pet hammie playing on sofa. Me typing here. It might be hot chocolate time but what about the diet How about trying a bath with candles? I used to drink Chocolate Horlicks before bed but it has a lot of calories and fat in it, so I gave it up . I just make myself fall asleep reading most times.

I'm currently drinking hot milk with cocoa in. No sugar in it.
Hammie put back in cage after a nice cuddle. He's large and fluffy enough to cuddle ! He keeps trying to leap off the top of the sofa. He's a daredevil in his own little way, ha ha.
Yes, Horlicks is very fattening but very relaxing.
I have so much work tomorrow but I might just 'suffer a train delay' / oversleep! I'm a London commuter. You can sometimes get away with it...

Frisky its no use asking me for advice. I am absolutely THE insomniac of the year. Ive suffered since childhood. drove my parents nuts with it. By 5 this morning it was my third day straight wihout any sleep. I finally at 5.30 this morning and slept for 14 hours solid (more like a coma really). I was meant to be in work, but it would have been out of the question. I would have been worse than useless. I had even started typing gobbleygook in my posts here and had to go back and edit everything. My reluctance to take anything but herbal remedies doesn't help. But my mother was addicted to them for many years and I refuse to go there. Relaxation tapes do help though. Listening to soothing music as you try to sleep helps if the insomnia isnt to extreme.

Insomnia is truley horrid. I can usually get off to sleep ok (well within a hour of going to bed wich to me is good), but with me I wake up 3 to 5 times in the night, and thats every night and not including the kiddie interupted sleep wich usually happend JUST as I drift off from an hour long toss and turn fidget.
What makes it worse is hubby goes out like a light so, by the time I am ready to drift off he's happily snoring away (or worse, grinding his teeth EEK!) and tghen that's it for me. I have to get up and come back on line or read for a while until I am SOO sleepy I have no choice but to get to bed.
Many a night have I read until past 5am, by which time it's not worth going to sleep because you know you'll feel worse for sleeping than you would if you stayed up all night.
I have always suffered from it, even as a kid. I remember watching programms where kids were kissed goodnight and the kids fell instantly asleep. I thought it was only people on the telly who did that, then I met hubby and had kids of my own. Nope, not just on the telly. Hubby just switches from awake to asleep in an instant and so do my kids, well apart from one who I think will be like me unfortunately *sigh*
I can cope with the getting off to sleep though, it's the constand wakeing that annoyes me. I can honestly say that I only ever get a whole night sleep in, where I sleep right through 'till morning about once a month, sometimes I get two nights in a row, but that's really rare, on a whole it's 1 night out of 30.
And hubby wonders why I need afternoon naps (which I can sleep for england through) Stupid innit.

Makes you feel like an old biddy Because I can so rarely get to sleep when appropriate my body clock is completely stuffed. If I literally collapse into a daytime snooze (after several days with none) then invariably I can stay out cold for most of the day if left undisturbed like today. It helps me stay functioning to have that catch up. But the trouble with it is that theres absolutely no hope of my sleeping tonight....and so the problem is self perpetuating!! I dont have the same problem as yourself regarding waking up once asleep. But then again, since I seldom sleep more than twice a week, Im not actually asleep often enough for that to happen anyway ;D

I thought i was having trouble sleeping Now i feel like i have no reason to complain but iam sorry your all having so much trouble . betty maybe it would help if when you finally do get to sleep to set the alarm so you dont actually sleep allday and then may be able to sleep about 11 to 12 in the night and and hopefully sleep all night i know its hard allthough i certainly dont suffer with it that bad but i do tend to stay up to late on here mainly ;D and then im up late in the morning and everyone thinks im lazy .Also it annoys the hell out of me when i actually get into bed and im so tired and yet i cant sleep for hours i start to think of stupid things and panic about all the things i havent got done.Iive actually been trying to make a dentist appointment for about 6 months now sounds simple dosent it everyday i put it off and as soon as i get into bed i panic about it And then when i finally get to sleep after laying awake in bed for 3 hours i dream about smileys LOL The other day i actually dreamt i was having a huge smiley tattoo i wonder if we have a dream interpreter amongst us LOL

Harvestgoddess what can I say...you are completely around the bend! No wonder I like you... we're a right pair. I Haven't quite acquired a smiley obsession though! LOL My insomnia is a form of anxiety too. Can't seem to switch the brain off even if the body has flopped! Seems all my dreams are anxiety based too, when I do get some kip that is. And like yourself, I think of the stupidest things in the wee small hours! PS I set the alarm on my mobile when I went to sleep yesterday...managed to switch it off and don't even remember doing it. Still had the phone in my hand when I woke up When I goes I sure goes!!! LOL In fairness to myself 14 hours still wasn't really equivalent to the 3 days worth I'd missed. Right...away to work with me now!

I usually wake up once a night. I used to be a really bad insomniac. It affected my work life and personal life. It's got better in the last few years. I noticed that when I went to the gym 3 times a week (only for about 2 weeks in a trot), I slept all the way through the night. Haven't been able to go that often but alot of physical exercise appears to help me. Shame I hate sport!
