Well said Carrick, and interesting reading odm. I hadn't intended to start a debate on the rights and wrongs of animal testing though, nor to dissuade anyone from supporting this charity if they were happy to do so. I'm pleased that Aisleyne is putting her name to something like this and that she is giving up smoking. I would just have prefered it if the charity she had chosen was one with which I did not have issues so that I could give her my full support and backing rather than the half-hearted support which is all I feel I can offer with this one.

;D I have to agree with clash , odm and carricmac whilst i think its a good thing her doing this i feel she could of done antibullying which i think she can relate to after being in the house of course its her life and im pleased for her But having been involved with various animal charites and PETA allthough not the extreme kind i am appalled by the way animals are treated and my first port of call would be to children and animals , i read somewhere about that bloody iams catfood and they actually test on cats ect and what i read was horrific and that was just cat food so i to have worries regarding testing dispite the fact ive lost a loved one to cancer he would of had a problem too with animals suffering this does not mean i dont appreciate the good this cause does its fantasitc i really dont dispute it but like clash i feel my support halfheated in this one

I still think it's a good cause.
I'm sure a certain amount of animal testing is involved in cancer research, but no more than in any other medical research. It's unfortunate, but there it is. I believe that wherever possible, other methods should be used, and animal usage should be kept to an absolute minimum, but there are times when only a living organism will do.
I believe there is a world of difference between something like this and cosmetics testing for example.
Just my personal opinion.

Eating meat isn't strictly necessary, whereas animal testing is (unfortunately). I suspect some/all of the people who object to animal testing on this thread might be partial to the odd juicy steak or two, which is a little bit hypocritical in my opinion. *runs off and hides*

You know i was going to make a comment - but thought wise of it as i would have a slight canary on the subject - but im with odm, carrick, clashand HG on the subject and would rather see a murderer, rapist or any other high risk prisoner being the ones used for testing - Dogd are worth more believe me and do have feelings. Totally against Brockolly and Julians comments sorry

Naughty naughty Maringo. I am a vegetarian and have not eaten meat for years. I practise what I preach too. Good! So you've got a consistent attitude and I respect you for that. ;D BTW, what do you mean by practicing what you preach? Is that a little dig at me? I have donated £15, but I used my real name instead of my forum name.
