Doh! I missed it too. I'll have to wait for the repeat on BBC3. But I did see the strange 'Fightclub' episode of Torchwood last night.

Sometimes I really like Torchwood and sometimes it really annoys me. It went through a spate of some really good ones but I wasn't too sure about the last two. They seem to have an annoying habit of making the lead characters rather less than sympathetic. Gwen cheats on her boyfriend, Jack assists a suicide and Owen seems to have a death wish. Oh yes, and lets not forget the other chap (whose name escapes me) allowing his obsession to cloud his judgement to the point that he tried to release a homicidal killer cyberwoman into the world It'll be Hoshi turning bad next, mark my words Regards Julian

I suppose that was quite provincial compared to some of the stuff the others get up to though. On the whole its well written but they have gone a bit overboard on re-doing some all too familiar stuff, like last nights 'Fightclub' storyline, the cyberwoman (obvious Star Trek Borg rip off) and the 'Hills Have Eyes' cannibal episode. The other weeks 'Randal & Hopkirk' deceased type episode with Gwen and her geek admirer was cute but not exactly exciting. On the plus side they did film the scene in the video store at my own local store. I confess to being a shameless location spotter. I think the main players are very much written to be less than sympathetic. I suspect its the 'all human frailty laid bare' approach to casting. They aren't superheroes, they're just human and I think the intention is that we're supposed to relate to them as real people because of their imperfections and subsequently be more impressed with their achievements. Well thats my take on it anyway. Anyway, I live in hope that there are still some exciting and original story-lines to come. In the meanwhile I still enjoy seeing Cardiff being put to good use as a location and Jack is still good eye candy (for the ladies as well as any guys who are so inclined ). Im quite liking the official website too. The Hub is quite an awesome set. www.bbc.co.uk/torchwood/

sorry to be a pain, but i asked my dad this a while back as hes an avid dr who fan, but if anyone copied cyber people (ill call it that for arguments sake lol) it would be star trek copying dr who. Cybermen were around in the days of the old Dr Who's, the borg are quite a new thing starting on the Next Generation (yes im a trekkie lol). As for the badness of the characaters in Torchwood...i'd much rather they make mistakes (ie cheating on ppl and allowing ppl to die) it makes the characters more human...they dont do it for fun they do it because it fits in with the feelings of the time and the story. It makes it all the more believable and seem more real, and less of the hollywood plastic "and everyone lived happily ever after" type storylines. We need more realism in our shows. I do agree there were some naff episodes...i didnt really like the one where 3 ppl travelled though time, it lost me when jack said theres no battles to fight, theres no story here, i thought your right there lol Oh and i didnt watch Dr Who...not really my thing, funny that considering i love torchwood though lol ;D

Apart from episode with Toshika falling for the pretty one from My Family, i've not really been enjoying Torchwood. Seems to me they've made a kids show but parachuted in some totally unnecessary swearing and "adult stuff" for the sake of it, and not for plot or realism purposes.
Xmas day Doctor Who was OK, no more than that. Lots of fun, but not particularly gripping. How come a space ship which has survived meteors, asteroids, and outer space for millions of years can be blown up by a tank??

hehe if a spaceship survived through space, asteroids and meteors for millions of years, then it sounds to me it was on its last legs lol
