Have to say on the topic of this still i have been thinking of my favourite films and i had not really covered them all lol.....i don't thik i mentioned The Thorn Birds a brilliant tearjerker of a film, I love Christopher Lee Dracula Films, Memoirs of a Geisha, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Dagger Film(i can't think of the full title and i have the film(japanese film)grrrr I have seen wolf creek - it scared the heck of of me, and i love scary films just these days i seem to have a weak stomach for them lol - Nightmare on Elm Street(a very young Jonny Depp ) - all of them, and Halloween All of them, Friday the 13th Most of them are 3 of my favourite horror films, same with Land of the Dead. Action Films i love to see would be all that have Keifer Sutherland, Tom Cruise, Keanu Reeves, Bruce Willis - Basically the Original Brat Pack of the 80's, Patrick Swayze and Arnie The Ring and The Grudge - Brilliant but scary films The Man in the Iron Mask - Original and Remake - Brilliant films Bourne Identity and Supremacy - Original better than the Remake

I don't like the gory horror films. Most of my favourites are Science Fiction or Fantasy.
Some that spring to mind: Lord of the Rings, The Matrix, Alien, Aliens, Terminator 1 and Terminator 2.
Plus a few comedies: Private Benjamin, All of Me, Nine to Five, Feds

Julian

Just to say - I recommended The House of Sand and Fog a few posts back. But I told my husband it was really good, and he watched it last night as I dozed on the sofa after a particularly liquid lunch. I awoke to find him saying 'this is so depressing, please god when will it end'. So maybe not everybodys cup of tea

One of those where the book was better than the movie. Or perhaps I was just put off by the rotton flea pit I went to see it in I think I may be one of the only people around here who got that tense reaction in the last minutes of The Blair Witch project?? No great shakes all through the film but that last few frames down in the basement of the deserted house....I jest had this strange feeling of sheer panic in my stomach... Very strange. Took quite to while to shake it too.

If you're looking for good horror then check out 'The Changeling' and the original b+w 'The Haunting'. I love all types of horror films but my favs have to be Japanese horror and Italian giallo's. I totally agree with you sazp. The original 'The Haunting' is absolutely one of my all time favourite spine chillers. It's untouchable in it's sheer creepiness, even today's technological advances can't top the chill factor of this film. They just don't make 'em like that anymore The scene with the two girls in the bedroom, terrified...holding hands....?!?! *gasps* It still brings a lump to my throat just thinking about that moment! Tension from beginning to end... I haven't watched a great many of the Japanese horrors, just the obvious, Ring, The Eye...etc However, I have one to watch this weekend, which came recommended. It's called A Tale of Two Sisters. Looks promising. If you can recommend any other good Japanse horrors that'd be great. As Follows: Kairo (Pulse) Into the mirror Face Kourei (Seance) Phone The Spiral Dark Water Enjoy!

Instead I’ll leave you all with a bit of fun to tickle your collective movie memories. See if you can remember which films these quotes belong too…extra points for naming the actors! Some are much easier than other but there’s something to cover peoples differing tastes. bb even though I only know a couple of the answers, I thought I'd enter just in case I'm the only one. Bit worried that you didn't say what the prize was though. I am going to want to win it right? I've numbered your quiz for my own purposes (other people are not allowed to take advantage of my kindness here and no cribbing off my answers) Your questions: (1) "It's not the years, honey. It's the mileage."
(2) "Houston, we have a problem."
(3) “When I first saw you, I thought you were handsome. Then, of course, you spoke."
(4) “Ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya?"
(5) "We all go a little mad sometimes... Haven't you?"
(6) “Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries."
(7) "You know what they call a - a - a Quarter Pounder with cheese in Paris?"
(8) "Did you ever reach a point in your life, where you say to yourself: 'This is the best I'm ever going to look, the best I'm ever going to feel, the best I'm ever going to do,' and it ain't that great?"
(9) "You should be kissed - and often, and by someone who knows how."
(10) "The pellet with the poison's in the vessel with the pestle. The chalice from the palace has the brew that is true."
(11) "Tell me, why is it every man who seems attractive these days is either married or barred on a technicality?"
(12) "Here's looking at you, kid."1 No idea 2 Apollo 13 3 No idea 4 Magnum Force (?) 5 No idea 6 Monty Python and the Holy Grail 7 That bloke from Saturday Night Fever was in this one. I should know it cos I've seen it . . 8 Total guess - Terms of Endearment 9 No idea but very poetic 10 Total guess - Bridget Jones 12 I so ought to know this one . . . Humphrey Bogart . . Africa . . got it! Casablanca I claim the prize!!!! And if I get any right and you get any other entries, they must have copied their answers from me. I reserve the right to amend my entry and to refuse to accept the prize.

I reserve the right to amend my entry and to refuse to accept the prize. Well done remaha. :)Thanks for trying. Not a bad effort. Your current score is 3.5. For correctly answering questions 2, 6 and 12. The 1/2 point was for No. 7. You have the right movie but c'mon now, we need the title too You've baffled me a bit rem, because you missed out No. 11 and suspect your answer to No. 10 was really intended for No11(still wrong though ) Answers to question No's 4 and 10 were incorrect Im afraid. But you were extremely close with No. 4. YOu currently have only scored enough points for a small but you can try and up your score for a prize of higher value. I'll give a couple of clues to help: 1. One film in a very successful & well know action adventure series. Think archeology! 3. Great award winning comedy -Words spoken by Helen Hunt. Think along lines of a charachter with OSD... 5. Think motels and showers 8. Another comedy - think cattle trails 9. Cant believe you didnt get this one. All time classic an epic romantic saga. But you probabaly'don't give a d**n'! 10. An oldie but favourite comedy hero from my youth. Danny Kaye 11. Bit of a toughie. Very old B&W movie. Gregory Peck. I confess to once being a serious Sunday afternoon movie adict. LOL You probabaly won't get it so I shall tell you 'Gentlemans Agreement' Three more points and you get a so keep trying.

I'm useless at this even with the clues
The one where I got half a mark - was it Dirty Harry? Got the wrong question. I might have to cheat on 7
1. One film in a very successful & well know action adventure series. Think archeology! I'm thinking Indiana Jones and as its the only one I can remember right now, I'm going for Temple of Doom (Should be worth half a mark) 3. Great award winning comedy -Words spoken by Helen Hunt. Think along lines of a charachter with OSD... (The Piano Player?) 5. Think motels and showers (Hitchthingy - Peck - Mother upstair - One of the most famous films ever made? I know its not Birds - rats, I thought I knew this one) 8. Another comedy - think cattle trails - Blazing Saddles? 9. Cant believe you didnt get this one. All time classic an epic romantic saga. But you probabaly'don't give a d**n'! Maybe this one is Blazing Saddles too? 10. An oldie but favourite comedy hero from my youth. Danny Kaye - Don't know any but had a Danny Kaye record once - Tubby the tuba - was that a record of the film? 11. Bit of a toughie. Very old B&W movie. Gregory Peck. I confess to once being a serious Sunday afternoon movie adict. LOL You probabaly won't get it so I shall tell you 'Gentlemans Agreement' (Oh, I think I would, so I'll take a mark for that one)

Not quite enough for the whisky but you can take one exault point for your efforts. Mind you, your lucky I don't clip points off for teasing me with your obvious obsession with Blazing Saddles (was Billy Crystal ever in Blazing Saddles? ) Get to 7 points and you can have the keys to my special box.....erm... just to be clear, that's this box

bb, I refuse to admit I know the answer to Number 9, so I'll have to concentrate my efforts on some of the others. Was Helen Hunt in A Beautiful Mind?
