As I think I've mentioned before, I would like to give up at some point, but as my wife and all my friends smoke it's really difficult (believe me I have tried!). I think we need to make a pact at some point to do it, but when that'll be , is anybody's guess. I suppose if I'm truthful with myself now I actually enjoy smoking

I used to smoke like a train when I'd had a drink, it's like you forget you just had one or something, like it just feels right having a drink in one hand and a cig in the other!

Maybe you and your mum could give up together?

My mum and I both tried to quit together, I gave it up totally about 3 years ago now, my mum still has 2 a day (even though she has emphysemia) but I guess it's better than 2 packets a day.

;D Hi everyone. I stopped smoking on September 3rd this year. I have not gone back to it. I have put on at least four pounds which upset me a bit, but having said that I can breathe properly which I need to do to be able to Sing. No sing, No money, so No choice. I grew too ill everytime I got a cough and cold. Now I wake up and I do NOT cough like I used to and I feel better altogether for not smoking. I have smoked for years and years at least 25 years and I loved my ciggies trust me. I drink lots and lots of water, i like peach flavoured still water though plain is best i know. I eat lots of salads, but like mayonaise which is a bit norty. I chew gum like it has gone out of fashion...and I now have a herbal remedy to help with stress and irritability.. Kalms or Quiet Life buy them in any chemist. I also take Ginkgo Biloba hoping it will improve my brain power ( common sense more like to continue to NOT smoke hee hee).

I now have menopause symptoms kicking in big time. Any girls who get this will pity me as you get so hot you think you are in a desert...hence sleeplessness etc. so I have not got away from PROBLEMS..however, i DONT SMOKE.. and because i can say i DONT SMOKE... I shall at least have got rid of one PROBLEM in my life...

Please message to HG and Andy and anyone else who wants to give up....grit your teeth and give it a go...it will make you want to rip someones head off but, get some herbal treatments like the ones I mentioned and guys trust me, it gets better...
