OK, it's a completely different topic from so far, but I've got an old friend (well, my oldest friend that I've kept in contact with out living in Thailand at the moment. I'm really worried about him what with the troubles that have arisen today. He's been living in or near Bangkok for the last 3 years and while we haven't seen each other in that time at all he's always rung me when he's come back to the UK and even stayed up all night a few times so that he can ring me at a reasonable hour (our time). The worst part of the worry is that I haven't got an up-to-date phone number or email address for him as the dozy s0d never sent them to me after the last time we spoke as he's promised. He's living with his Thai girlfriend in the flat they've bought and he's really happy, so I've got the feeling he won't want to leave much The only point of contact I have with him is through his parents. While I've always got on well with them, I haven'tr seen them in about 5 years and don't want to worry them by riging and asking if they've heard from their son. How long do people think i should leave it before I call and check on his safety?

Thanks hon. I'm not that kind though...more concerned that the silly bugger's going to get caught up in all of this sh1t that's kicking off and so I'm not going to have anymore false promises that he's going to come and visit me in Oxford next time he's back! I've spent a lot of time growing up with this guy and many a night drinking and talking absolute cr@p...I don't want to remember that as something which'll never happen again. You're right of course...I'll call his parents tomorrow evening (when hopefully they'll have more of an idea of what's happening) and hopefully won't create anymore worry for them. God, just what i need to top off a depressing time at the moment! Thank uou sweetheart xxx

Andy, I'm sure his parents are already concerned about their son and would appreciate his friend calling them to check all's well, sometimes with worrying about the "right" thing to do we do or say nothing and knowing that others are also concerned and care can be a great support

Thanks for your advice Celtic. I've made my mind up that I'm going to give my friend's parents a call this evening. Looking briefly at the news reports today it seems like the whole situation hasn't quite exploded as I thought it might, so I'm sure Jim will be fine out there. Hopefully a bit of reassurance from an old mate will help his parents too!

Well, just update celtic & HG, I rand my friend's parents and apparently the silly bugger's fine, even though his place is just around the corner from the Golden Palace! He's probably got a tank sitting on his lawn messing up the plants, but he's ok You were both right and his parents really appreciated me thinking of him and them...even invited me & my wife round for a drink next time we're down so they could meet her! Phew! Thanks for the support guys
